External Repairs and Lining to a Floating Tank Roof

ANALYSIS
  • Client: BP Oil Ltd
  • Location: Hemmel Hempstead
  • Work undertaken: Floating Roof Project

We have worked on BP projects on numerous occasions over the years and this Hemmel Hempstead project was for tanks with floating roofs.

RPM removed algae growth by washing with a fungicidal wash, before using ultra high pressure water jetting equipment to fully clean and remove rust deposits and loose / poorly adhered coating ready for over coating. UHP jetting is the best option when working in an ATEX zone.

We informed BP of any steel defects. Then patch primed by applying one coat of Interseal 670HS Aluminium to achieve a nominal dft of 100 microns.

After the repairs, RPM then re-prepared and primed with one coat of Interseal 670HS Aluminium to achieve a nominal dft of 100 microns.

2 stipe coats and 2 overall coats of Interseal 670HS to achieve a total minium dft of 225 microns was then applied.

All the materials applied were in accordance with the manufacturers data and health and safety data sheets.
