Work has been carried out to change the tank’s lining to fibre-glass
- Client: Worcester Petroleum
- Location: Vowchurch
- Work undertaken: Lining to Underground Fuel Storage Tank
West End Garage in Vowchurch has been refuelling since 1923. There are 2 petrol pumps in the front garden and large enamelled advertisement plates for Raleigh bicycles and one for Castrol adorn the front façade of the house.
Sales take place in the front room of the cottage that has a sales counter for sweets, newspapers and small motoring items.
Work has been carried out to change the tank’s lining to fibre-glass with plastic pipework to extend its life, if the work hadn’t been carried out the tank would have had to been taken out or filled with concrete.
It was then handed it over to RPM with a gas free certificate enabling them to commence the surface preparation and re-lining.
Mechanically cleaned. Removed dust / debris generated by the surface preparation process. We applied SJ primer. The primer having hardened a base coat of resin / filler was applied, and whilst the base coat was still soft a layer of 600 gsm chopped strand mat was embedded.
Surface tissue was applied over the mat and wet out with resin, allowed to cure. Finished with SJ top coat to achieve a total thickness of 2.5 / 3 mm.
